The Strength in Contradictions
I walked past some early spring blooms just like this last week (during an intentional phone-free walk so hereโs a photo from the internet ๐)โpushing through the cold, fragile yet determined. A contradiction of seasons. A reminder that growth doesnโt wait for perfect conditions.
This weekend, Iโve been sitting with contradictions like this in my own life:
Feeling exhausted AND deeply committed to my work.
Wanting to be present with my daughters AND needing space to breathe.
Believing in the power of science AND feeling disheartened by the forces working against it.
Itโs easy to think we have to chooseโeither weโre thriving or weโre struggling. Either weโre strong or weโre tired. But the truth is, we live in the tension between both.
These flowers donโt wait for the snow to melt before they start blooming. They thrive in the contrast, in the in-between. And maybe we can, too.
Whatโs a contradiction youโre holding right now? Letโs remind each other that we donโt have to be just one thing.
