The Power of Support: What Would You Go For If You Knew Someone Would Catch You If You Fall?

Preamble: Filmed this to impress my 4 year old (it worked! 🎉) but the metaphor is too good not to share…even if it means posting a closeup of my 🍑 on the internet 🙈 🤣

The Power of Support: What Would You Go For If You Knew Someone Would Catch You If You Fall?

For years, I’ve been working toward a handstand walk. I had the strength, the balance, and the drive—but fear held me back. What if I fell? What if I failed?

Last week, I finally went for it. Not because the fear was gone, but because my coach, Vee, was there to spot me. Just knowing someone was ready to catch me gave me the courage to take that first step—and it worked!

This experience reminded me of the incredible power of peer support, which is at the heart of what we create in MotherMind. For the scientist mothers in our program, navigating demanding careers at the edge of innovation while balancing the competing demands of motherhood requires courage. Courage to lead authentically, make big moves, and do it their way. Knowing they have a community of peers who truly understand their challenges and will catch them when they stumble gives them the confidence to reach higher and push boundaries they never thought possible.

So, here’s my question for you: What would you go for if you knew someone was there to catch you if you fall?

Let’s share, connect, and remind each other of the power of support.
