As Scientist Mothers, we live in a constant state of mental togglingโfrom lab meetings to bedtime routines, grant deadlines to meal planning, inbox triage to making sure everyone has clean socks. ๐ช๐ฒ ๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐๐ผ ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น ๐ถ๐ฟ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐ฝ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ผ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฝ ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐. What if I miss something urgent? What if my kidโs school calls? What if a co-author needs something right now?

Being completely unavailable, even for short bursts, is not indulgentโitโs essential. Itโs how we reset, how we access creativity, how we remember who we are when weโre not reacting to the next thing. Itโs also ๐ฎ ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐โtrusting that the world wonโt fall apart in our absence.
So, I challenge you: How can you create your own MRI moment this week? A short, intentional, completely unavailable window of timeโno screens, no demands, no interruptions. Just you, your thoughts, and a chance to actually hear yourself think.
