๐Ÿ’ธ ๐—ง๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐—ฒ: The cost of physician recruitment and start-up ranges between $268-957k per physician (Hamidi et al., 2018)

Dr. Silver highlighted ๐˜๐˜„๐—ผ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐˜† ๐—ณ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜€ driving faculty to leave their medical schools from a study of over 18,000 faculty across 36 institutions (Zimmermann et al., 2020).

โบ The #1 factor is ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐˜„๐˜๐—ต ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜ ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ฒ๐˜€.

In a separate study of 366 physicians, 99% of whom were women, the lower number of belonging factors experienced, the greater their reported likelihood of leaving (Schaechter, et al., 2023).
